Public Petition and Independent Opinion Poll
Protect Creative Freedom: Reject Mandatory AI Text Watermarking
Veristio Press opposes broad mandatory watermarking, labeling, embedded identifiers, or provenance credentials for lawful creative work merely because AI tools were used.
The petition and poll are separate actions. Signing never casts a poll response, and answering the poll never signs the petition.
Petition Statement
Creative tools should not become creator-tracking mandates.
AI-assisted creative work can be lawful, responsible, edited, attributed, and publisher-controlled. Mandatory marking regimes can still impose a provider-controlled signal on the finished work, invite overbroad detection claims, and shift publication authority away from creators.
Veristio Press supports transparency in deceptive or high-risk contexts. This petition rejects broad, default marking of lawful text, images, audio, video, and mixed-media creative work when creators have not chosen that marking for themselves.
Seven Demands
What the petition asks for
- Do not require visible labels, invisible signals, embedded identifiers, or mandatory provenance credentials for lawful creative work merely because AI tools were used.
- Keep disclosure voluntary, transparent, and controlled by the creator except in narrowly defined deceptive or high-risk uses adopted through lawful public process.
- Require AI providers to inform creators before embedding persistent or machine-detectable marks in text, images, audio, video, or mixed-media work.
- Require affirmative creator consent before provider-controlled marks are attached to lawful creative work outside narrowly defined high-risk cases.
- Preserve a creator-controlled ability to decline or remove provenance or identification technology before publication of lawful work.
- Do not let foreign regulatory implementation become a de facto global publishing rule for American creators without separate United States democratic adoption.
- Protect private dissent, sensitive creator experiences, and petition signatures from unauthorized external delivery or lobbying packages.
Separate Action One
Sign the Petition
Your signature is counted separately from the opinion poll. Public display is optional.
Separate Action Two
Take the Independent Poll
The poll permits support, opposition, uncertainty, and disagreement. It does not require a real name, organization, account, purchase, subscription, or petition signature.
Authentic Aggregate Results
Poll Results
Loading aggregate results.
Methodology: this is a voluntary, self-selected advocacy-site public opinion poll, not a statistically representative survey of American creators or the general public. Percentages use accepted, non-suppressed poll responses with an answer to the question as the denominator and are rounded to one decimal place. Demographic breakdowns suppress cells below 10 accepted responses.
Privacy
Petition and poll privacy
Petition records may include name, country, optional state, optional organization, optional email, optional private note, consent choices, audit timestamps, and privacy-preserving duplicate-prevention evidence. Poll records may include answers, optional demographic context, consent choices, audit timestamps, moderation status, and similar duplicate-prevention evidence.
The site may retain keyed or truncated technical evidence such as respondent-token, IP-prefix, and user-agent hashes for anti-abuse, rate-limit, idempotency, and duplicate-prevention controls. Public results use aggregate counts only. Private notes, individual poll answers, emails, and unapproved open responses are not publicly displayed.
Participation creates no purchase, subscription, account, payment, licensing, or commercial relationship. Personal information is not sold or used for unrelated advertising. Correction, deletion, and suppression requests may be sent to press@veristio.com. Include the reference ID shown after submission when available. Accepted petition and poll records are retained only while the campaign is active and for up to 24 months after the owner closes it, unless earlier deletion or suppression is completed. Technical anti-abuse evidence is reviewed for deletion after 180 days when it is not needed for duplicate-prevention, audit, incident, or integrity review. Export and administrative audit metadata may be retained for up to 36 months to preserve delivery-package integrity without keeping deleted private payload text.

Factual Basis
Current primary-source grounding
EU AI Act Article 50 addresses transparency obligations for certain AI systems, including machine-readable marking of generated or manipulated audio, image, video, or text output. European Commission guidance says Article 50 applies from August 2, 2026. C2PA is a technical provenance standard for cryptographically verifiable content credentials.
This petition distinguishes those legal and standards materials from Veristio Press policy objections. Veristio Press objects to broad mandatory marking for lawful creative work and to provider-controlled signals that can travel with a creator's finished work without affirmative creator control.

No individual answer is publicly displayed unless a separate explicit publication permission applies.
What happens next?
Veristio Press will publish authentic aggregate results and may prepare owner-authorized public promotion materials. External delivery of signatures, personal data, or lobbying communications requires a later explicit owner authorization naming recipients and fields.
